Early Life and Humble Beginnings
Born on 28 August 1992 in Bahadurpur, a small village near Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, Annu Rani grew up in a traditional Jat farming family. Her brother, Upendra, noticed her exceptional arm strength while playing cricket. With no access to professional sports gear, Annu trained by throwing sugarcane sticks and bamboo rods in the fields—early signs of the javelin queen she would become.

Breaking into Athletics
In 2010, at the age of 18, Annu started training professionally under coach Kashinath Naik and later Baljeet Singh. Her big break came in 2014, when she broke a 14-year-old national record with a throw of 58.83 m at the National Inter-State Championships in Lucknow. This achievement earned her a place in the 2014 Commonwealth Games and a bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon.
