Fact-Checking Policy

a) At VibrantPatrika, we strive to publish accurate information in all our content. We thoroughly investigate claims, question assumptions, and challenge conventional wisdom to ensure accuracy.

b) We are dedicated to maintaining accuracy in all our outputs. This commitment is crucial to our reputation and the trust of our audience. “Due accuracy” means that our information should be precise and suitable for the content, considering its subject and nature, and any constraints that might affect this expectation should be explicitly mentioned.

c) Our content must be well-sourced, based on available evidence, and corroborated. We aim to be transparent about what we don’t know and avoid speculation.

d) Our journalists never plagiarize or intentionally distort facts or context, including visual information.

e) We seek independent verification for claims, especially those from public officials or anyone with an agenda beyond just reporting the truth. Claims and facts that cannot be corroborated are usually attributed.

f) VibrantPatrika stands by the accuracy of its published information. If an error is found, we promptly correct it. We do not mislead our audience or distort facts. We acknowledge and correct serious factual errors quickly and clearly.

g) We offer the public a way to report any inaccuracies or errors in our reporting through the “Suggest A Correction” section at the end of each web story.

h) Our journalists focus on reporting, writing, and fact-checking stories, which are reviewed by one or more editors. We have a multi-level fact-checking process, with the seniority of editors depending on the story’s complexity, sensitivity, and time constraints.

Our Correction Policies

Despite our commitment to excellence and accuracy, errors can happen. When they do, VibrantPatrika takes responsibility for correcting them and maintaining transparency to ensure that incorrect information doesn’t spread.

Steps for Accuracy, Transparency, and Excellence:

Readers:

If you spot an error, contact our editor-in-chief, Emilee Wentland, immediately by email, phone, mail, or in person.

Email: connct@vibrantpatrika.com
Subject: Correction Needed

Corrections are only officially submitted when directly contacting the editor-in-chief. Submissions to other staff members may not be addressed promptly.

Include the correction, the issue date or number, where you saw the correction (print, online, etc.), your name, and a contact phone number or email. Provide the correct information and a source if possible. For example, if a Student Senate vote tally was incorrect, provide the meeting minutes.

Expect a response from the editor-in-chief, who may contact you for more information. Submission guarantees the error will be investigated but not necessarily corrected.

VibrantPatrika.com:

Once the editor-in-chief is aware of an error, they will investigate using the provided information, meeting minutes, reporter’s recordings, and other available sources.

If an error is found, a correction will be issued in all forms where the information was disseminated:

Print:

Corrections will be printed on page 2A in the next issue, noting the issue, article, incorrect information, and correction.

Online:

The article will be corrected, and an editor’s note will be added to the bottom, noting the correction and when the article was changed.

Social Media:

If the article was posted on Facebook, Twitter, or other online platforms, a post will link to the corrected article and note the correction.

The editor-in-chief will inform the reader who submitted the correction of the steps taken to correct the error.
